OnDemand user guide#

OnDemand is our "one-stop shop" for access to our High Performance Computing resources. With OnDemand, you can upload and download files; create, edit, submit, and monitor jobs; run GUI applications; and connect via SSH, all via a web browser, with no client software to install and configure.

Connecting#

To connect to OnDemand, visit https://ondemand.hpc.epfl.ch. The first page of the OnDemand site displays instructions on how to log in to SCITAS OnDemand, which are shown in the image below:

You will have to use your gaspar account to login.

First steps#

Once connected you should see a list of application that you can run.

The Desktop application will allow you to run a Virtual Desktop directly on a node of the cluster, you should be able to load the regular modules from the software stack and run the graphical application this way.

The Desktop on Kuma will run with one associated GPU H100 or L40s depending of the chosen partition.

Application parameters

When you run an application be careful to chose the proper Account and Partition and QOS! The lists are alphabetically ordered so the default might not be what you need.
