Emergency Reboot of All Login Nodes - TODAY
VSCode servers and AI coding agents on the login nodes of the clusters are
overloading the /home filesystem for all users.
We will therefore reboot the login nodes of Jed and Kuma today (2026-08-19) throughout the day. If you get disconnected, you may reconnect to the clusters immediately; Jed and Kuma will always have at least one login node up and running.
Your jobs will be unaffected by these reboots.
VS Code servers and AI coding agents are not designed to run on shared, multi-user login nodes where all users access the same filesystem through a single mount point. When used concurrently at scale, they can overload the filesystem and cause noticeable slowdowns for everyone.
You can run VSCode on a compute node: Using VScode
Alternatively, use our Open OnDemand service: Using OnDemand
You should also run your AI coding agents on a compute node instead of a login node.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
