Kuma Cluster Full Production & Pricing – Nov 1st#

We are excited to announce the successful completion of the beta testing phase for the Kuma GPU cluster, and we are preparing to enter full production starting from November 1st, 2024. Your participation in the beta phase has been invaluable, with a total of approximately 450,000 GPU hours of calculation jobs executed. This extensive testing allowed us to identify and resolve various hardware and software issues, ensuring that Kuma is largely ready for production.

Pricing#

Starting November 1st, 2024, the Kuma cluster will enter full production, and the following pricing will be applied for GPU usage.

QOS#

To optimize resource usage, we will be configuring the following Slurm Quality of Service (QoS) settings starting the week of October 28th:

  • normal: The default QoS for standard jobs, with a maximum wall time of 3 days
  • long: A low-priority QoS for extended jobs, allowing up to 7 days of runtime
  • build: A QoS dedicated to compiling software without allocating GPUs. Users can submit one job at a time with a maximum of 16 cores and up to a wall time of 4 hours. This QoS will be free of charge
  • debug: Intended for debugging purposes, this QoS allows one job per user with a maximum of 2 GPUs and a wall time limit of 1 hour. This QoS will be free of charge.

Izar Cluster#

Additionally, the Izar cluster will be reassigned for educational use only and will no longer be available for general use from the same date.

Kuma Acceptance#

We are also happy to report that Kuma has passed all acceptance tests, including the benchmark submission to the Top500/Green500 list, which will be published on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, at 22h15.
